Celebrating the 40 and Fabulous

'Buoy oh Buoy!' by designer Suzanne Cahill

Do you know anyone who is going to turn ’40 and fabulous’ this year?  Despite announcements that 40 is the new 30, the fact remains that many women in particular do not relish that big 4-0 milestone birthday. If you want to celebrate a special 40-year old woman, throw a fantastic party in her honor.  Send a birthday party invitation to her favorite people, serve great appetizers and a signature cocktail, create a fun playlist…and at all cost avoid black napkins, black balloons and any ‘over the hill’ party decorations.  Instead, make a more subtle (and welcome) reference to her years through one of the following birthday gift ideas:

  • Music from the year they were born, 1972.  The Billboard Top Rock’n’Roll Hits is published every year and 1972 features such oldies-but-goodies as A Horse with no Name (America) and Nights in White Satin (Moody Blues).
  • A wallet containing $40 or a $40 gift card.
  • Movies from 1972 such as classics The Godfather (which won 3 Academy Awards including Best Picture) and Cabaret (receiving Best Actress for Liza Minnelli and Best Director Academy Award honors).
  • A 40-year old wine to toast the birthday ‘girl’.
  • The New York Times Ultimate Birthday Book, this is a personalized hardcover book containing every New York Times birthday front page in someone’s life.
  • A photo album containing 40 photos of the birthday ‘girl’ and her family from childhood to now.

Simplify your party planning by ordering online party invitations from LookLoveSend.com.  Our growing collection of birthday party invitations are stylish reflections of your guest of honor…and they don’t feature a single ‘over the hill’ reference!
