Party Planning: Outsource Your Birthday Party Invitations

When I was a mom with kids in the pre-school set, I would get butterflies in my stomach several weeks ahead of their birthdays. It’s true – birthday party planning made me want to scream! At the time, I thought that coming up with a memorable, fun and original birthday party meant I had to produce everything myself.

I guess I fell victim to “motherhood in the age of anxiety” syndrome. How else to explain antics like homemade birthday party invitations - handcut, stamped, and painstakingly rhymed? Or party favors calligraphied with each guest’s name? Then there was the timeI stayed uptil 2 a.m. stuffing newspaper into plastic, orange jack-o-lantern Halloween trash bags in a quest to recreate a pumpkin patch in my backyard. I went to bed only because I ran out of newspaper.

Now that I’m older and “wiser”, I’ve learned to cut myself a little slack. Outsourcing certain things allows me to actually enjoy planning. I’ve become a big fan of a single party favor, like a beach ball or sand bucket forsummertime birthdays, or a small pumpkin or take-home craft for fall birthdays. I also leave my calligraphy pen in the drawer – kids read their names more easily when written with a big black sharpie!

Most of all, I save a great deal of time now by ordering birthday party invitations online because there are so many fun, colorful designs from which to choose. Originality and customization still count, and so I love the invitations that are available at LookLoveSend.com.  They have original, beautifuldesigns for boys’ and girls’ parties, I can still make up my silly rhymes, and they’ll print on the highest quality paper.
